Confluence ~ Maeaan ~ Oman
Proposal for art program at Muscat and Salalah airports presented as a competition entry to the Oman Airports Management Company (OAMC). The art program was developed for and in collaboration with GVK 360 Airport Solutions.
Excerpt from the curatorial note:
The scope of the art program at Muscat and Salalah airports is to convey a sense of place while highlighting the dense network of relations Oman and Omani people nurtured over the centuries with neighboring and far off countries across the Incense and Silk routes. Maeaan Oman: historically a confluence of seafaring and trade routes, of people of rich and diverse traditions; today a confluence of travelers proceeding from disparate countries around the world.
Contemporary and Traditional Oman come together in a well-connected display of art installations that tell the story and role of Oman as a vibrant center of exchanges, involving local as well as international artists and uplifting the country’s resources in terms of arts, craft and other capabilities. Not just a display, the integrated art program will play a prominent role in the artistic and cultural scene of Oman.
